  Dear Dr. Baughman, 

  Since the age of 4-1/2 my granddaughter has been diagnosed as being
  bipolar

.  She is now 9.

  So far, she has taken the following medications:

  Lamictal
  Depakote
  Risperdal
  Lecithin 
  Zoloft 

  Melatonin

Baughman Jr., MD: with no disease, these are poisonings, categorical child abuse, especially if physicians have lead parents/guardians to believe child is abnormal/disease, a lie, violation of right to informed consent. Each of these drugs is dangerous. Their use altogether is highly irresponsible and could kill her. Drs. knowingly giving all of them together are irresponsible, criminally so] 
  While on the medications, she has had the following difficulties:

  Seizures
  Mood swings
  Aggressive behavior
  Obsessiveness 
  Hair loss 
  Weight loss 
  Visual difficulties (blurred vision/crossed eyes?)

  Her penmanship has deteriorated from nice round, childlike lettering to
  scrawl that is barely legible

  Angela's mother and her present husband, my daughter, are the only
  individuals who have difficulty with this child.  She believes Angela is
  out of control

.  I babysat Angela from age 2 through 7
  and kept her throughout the week during the times she was not in school.
  I did not encounter these problems

  Angela has had visitation with her father every other weekend since she
  was 2.  Her father and his lady companion do not encounter the problems
  either.  They are as disturbed about this situation as our family is.

  Angela's teachers love her (one nicknamed her "Kitten").  She is an
  outstanding student.

  My daughter is a very bright paralegal for a prestigious law firm.  This
  past weekend she threatened me and her former husband with a restraining
  order if we continue to interfere with Angela's "medical treatment".

  Are you aware of any organizations similar to MADD that fight the
  administration of mind altering drugs to children?

  My husband and I have exhausted every avenue of help.  We have talked to
  the following:

  My daughter and her present husband
  Social worker 
  Psychologist
  Psychiatrist
  Attorney  

  Everyone except, of course, my daughter and her husband have been outraged
  and sympathetic but have offered very little practical help.

  This grandmother is quite serious when I tell you that I am willing to
  contact the media, break the restraining order and be put in jail in order
  to go public with the senseless administration of drugs to my grandchild
  and that of other children.  I need a spokesperson because I am neither
  knowledgeable enough nor capable of personally dealing with the media.  I
  am desperate to save my grandchild.  I am willing to be David against the
  Goliath.  Please advise.
